About Susan Wallace and
About You

"Everything I teach began on a staircase."

Somewhere in your life, there is a staircase of your own.
Not learned. Lived.

Susan Wallace iHYPi hypnotherapy trainer

Susan Wallace. Founder of the International Hypnotherapy Institute. Three decades in the profession. Susan started teaching just three years after qualifying. Her work now has one focus: helping hypnotherapists turn what they have lived into a framework they can teach.

Two experiences became two frameworks that I still teach today

The staircase became the Invisible Suit of Armour. I teach it to practitioners who want to work with attachment through hypnosis.

The cottage became the Cottage and the Tornado Framework. It is the road map inside Healing Trauma Through Hypnosis, my advanced practitioner course.

Neither were written while I was sitting at a desk trying to be clever. Both were lived first and understood later. I looked back at experiences that had already healed and asked one question.

What did I have to get good at to get through that?

The answers became part of the work I have taught, practised and built a thirty-year career around.

There are answers like that in your life too.

ABOUT YOU

That was my half of the page. This half matters more.

You have a staircase of your own

After three decades in this profession, here is what I know. What you have lived is already shaping how you practise. It is there in the clients you understand quickly, the things you notice before they are spoken and the questions you instinctively ask.

Your training gave you the qualifications. Life added something that belongs to you.

Frameworks can come from work, parenthood, childhood, relationships, recovery, failure, expertise, repeated clinical observation, previous careers and decades of solving problems.

Most hypnotherapists never stop long enough to excavate the professional wisdom hidden inside their life experiences.

Becoming your own witness

On the stairs, a sixteen-year-old girl needed a witness and didn't get one.

Years later, looking back properly meant I could finally see what that experience had required me to learn.
That matters professionally.

Because when you can recognise what life built in you, you stop treating it as something ordinary simply because it comes naturally to you.

You can name it. Structure it. Test it with clients. And eventually teach it.

That is how lived experience becomes professional intellectual property.

After healing there is excavation

Excavation is the work of going back over a healed experience and lifting out what it taught you.

Healing asks whether the experience still has a hold on you.

Excavation asks something different.
  • What did you have to get good at to get through that?
  • What has this built in you?
  • Where does it already show up in the way you practise?

You do not need to arrive at BUILD knowing what your framework is. Finding it is the first month's work.

You could try to do this alone

You could try to do this alone. You might be thinking it already. I can see what she did. I can do this myself.
Here's the truth.
That wisdom has been in your life for years and it is still not a framework.

You are too close to your own story to build it out properly.  I was too. Mine took decades because I was working it out alone. That is the long way.

BUILD is the right way. 90 days.  A structured process with someone whose job is to see what you cannot.

Because, if it was going to happen on its own, it would have happened by now.

Built in the first half of the month. Tested in the second.

We work together during the first two weeks of October, November and December.
The second half of each month is deliberately left open so you can take what you have built back into your real practice, use it with clients and find out what holds up.

By ninety days, you are a teaching hypnotherapist

By the end, you are not holding an idea you came up with in a workshop. You have a framework that has been named, structured, used, tested and taught.

In those ninety days, you develop a piece of professional intellectual property that belongs to you. A framework you can use with clients, present in talks, develop into workshops and eventually build teaching around.
Your thinking. Your framework. Your name on it.

The next cohort starts Tuesday 6 October 2026, live on Zoom.

Your life has already built something into the way you practise.
BUILD helps you find it, test it and turn it into a framework you can name, use and teach.
